Taking the Epistle

A biblical journey through the epistles

05 – Living creatures

Creation day five – Living creatures

Thank you for looking at our Creation series, my desire in these pages is to look at the literal days of creation and in greater detail quoting primarily from the first book of the Bible, the book of Genesis.

In part one we looked at day one of creation, why it was a literal day and examined why God put it in the perfect order that he did, in part two we looked at the waters separating, in part three we looked at earth, vegetation and trees, part four was the sun, moon and stars and today we start again on day five at the bible verses below.

Let’s make the animals

Genesis 1:20 (ESV) And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.” 21 So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” 23 And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.

By Animals I do not mean the guys that sang “The House of the Rising Sun”. I am of course meaning the ones which inhabit the wild. This article may be the most controversial from a “Macro Evolution” standpoint. You may think that I am attacking science or the evolution community but I can assure you that I am not. I am simply fulfilling a bible verse in 1st Peter chapter three which reads:

1st Peter 3:15 (ESV) but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,

I am meaning the part in which we are asked to “always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you;” In many ways the Bible has been slandered, maligned and misquoted. These pages are a small effort to redress this.

I believe in evolution!

Again we see that term “according to its kind” which means the same as a scientific process called “micro evolution” I first learned about this in my 8th year of schooling when I learned about the white moth in the industrial revolution.

Prior to the industrial revolution it was mainly white moths that were the population of moths, however when the factories came to the cities and heavy industry changed the landscape to be darker, the darker moth became more prevalent as it could adapt to the conditions better.

Micro evolution talks of variances between kinds, examples of this would be as follows

White moth – black moth – moths
Siamese cat – ginger housecat – cats
Dalmatian – Yorkshire terrier – dogs
Eagle – canary – bird
Haddock – cod – fish
Cockroach – beetle – insect

A cockroach will never evolve to a dog, a cat will never evolve to a fish and a bird will never evolve to a rat.

I don’t believe in evolution

The macro evolution that I don’t believe in is the idea that a fish sprouted legs, crawled out of the ocean and became a land animal and evolved up the chain. Similarly I do not believe that man came from monkey. (More on that in creation day six)

One thing I wish was the case though is the school textbooks, they carry many theories that are no longer held true by scientists, some have been exposed as a lie, others have been shown to be falsified in order to show the evidence in a biased nature to make it look as if evolution is correct.

One day, not millions of years

God created birds, mammals, fish, and all the rest of the animals in one day, as adults. He created them with similar bodily structures; tomorrow we will see that he created the land animals share common characteristics like walk on four legs, but today we observe the winged creatures usually fly and the sea creatures usually swim. This tells me that the same creator created the animals.

Much the same as the cell phone I have, it is made by Samsung, my mother in law also has a phone made by Samsung, it shares many the same features as my phone and acts in many ways the same way. However the size of mine compared to hers tells me which one is mine and which one is hers.

No bones about it

If we are truly millions of years old and truly a victim of primordial soup we really are missing millions upon millions of bones, fossils and missing links. We really are short on the evidence that supports this notion.

If it was truly millions upon millions of tiny changes over an infinite amount of time (say millions of years) then we would have hard evidence that would show this. In fact, many “missing link” revelations have been done using findings of less than 10% of an animal’s body.

Even God drew a line in the creation account

God wished to draw a line between the air and sea animals and the animals who dwelled on the land; he created them on different days. I am sure that he knew there would be a man called Darwin who would visit the Galapagos Islands, see some finches, establish micro evolution and talk about variation between kinds and then make assumptions about things that we are still waiting to be confirmed. (Even though we have accepted them in science as fact)

There’s plenty of room for everyone

God tells them to be fruitful and multiply, in the air, in the seas and on the land and to go after their own kind, sin has not entered the world so we do not have sharks chasing everyone, snakes biting everyone and crocodiles snapping at everyone. God still describes everything again as “good”.

As a planet we are not overpopulated, there is plenty of room and God intended us to fill the place. In the next creation article we will look at God creating land animals as well as man and woman. Please join us for that one.

My hope is that these pages will make you investigate the claims of the Bible as regards to the creation account. If you have any questions then please see below.
