Taking the Epistle

A biblical journey through the epistles

04 – God sends his son

04 – God sends his Son

This is a series on the gospel of Jesus Christ and the faith that I have that Jesus Christ is my Saviour, please check out the main “gospel” section here. These pages are meant as a basic introduction to the Christian faith.

The “real Jesus of Nazareth”

In part one we saw the perfect world that God created, in part two we saw the fall of man and the separation of God and man. In part three we saw that God allows man to atone for sin, but that solution was only temporary. God planned to reconcile man to God by sending the ultimate sacrifice, Jesus Christ.

This page is likely to offend, likely to cause comment because I am stating loud and clear to the world that that historical man, Jesus of Nazareth, known also as “The Christ” is the son of God, sent first to the Jews to allow them to repent of their sins and then to the Gentile nations.

Unlike other historians or other religions that whilst they agree that a historical Jesus was living in the area known on our modern day maps as Israel, some call him a prophet, or simply a good teacher, or religious man. He was none of those things, but at the same time all of those things.

Evidence for Jesus

After a biblical break of 400 years, we read the accounts called “The Gospels” in the books called Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. These books give four different accounts of the life and mission of Jesus of Nazareth, many miracles are mentioned in more than one account.

Couple this with extra biblical and scholarly writings of the time (such as Flavius Josephus) which, whilst they are not written for a Christian audience, give clarity and give a historical background that validates and verifies not only the historical Jesus, his followers and the stir that caused as well as validation of the political and cultural aspects that are mentioned in the Gospels.

Who was he then?

He was simply the Son of God, born of a virgin in the city of Bethlehem, (The REAL reason for Christmas) His life was fulfilling prophecies and being a light to the world. He was fully human and also fully God. No man has impacted the world and made such a change in peoples lives like him, his life is so improbable due to all that was written before and all that he fulfilled in 33 short years.

His 3 years of ministry, with 12 close friends, one of whom was going to betray him birthed a breakaway Jewish movement that has spread to all four corners of the world and completed a Bible that to show the academic burden of proof has more copies, fragments of copies and pages written about him than many other respected historical figures.

Who was he not?

He was not the sibling of the devil, or angels as some religions claim. He also was not a minor prophet pointing to a false God as another claims. He is not the Jesus of Islam as Muslim clerics and scholars will tell you that Allah has no son.

Son of God – Beginning and the End

He is the ALPHA and the OMEGA, the beginning and the end. The only way to God. Jesus states that in the Gospel of John chapter 14 verse 6 that “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes unto the father but by me”.

He is part of the Trinity, which includes Father, Son and Holy Spirit, was there at the beginning of Creation. (See Creation section for further clarification on this) and because of his claims that he was equal to God, the Jews sought to have him crucified by the Romans. (The Jews could not sentence him to death and required to hand him over to the ruling Romans)

Further reading

I plan to do a series of articles that I will link from here showing that Jesus is the only way to heaven and that by only having faith in him and living a Christian life, will you be with him in heaven.

In the next two sections you will see the reason why Jesus came to this world and you will be challenged on your heavenly destination. My desire is that you come and join me in heaven for all eternity, it is far better than the other path you could take.

God bless and I pray this was a blessing and please feel free to like, share or comment on here or whatever social media platforms you use as the Lord leads you to, as always I love questions about this or any other article so please feel free to fill in the form below, all comments are moderated to avoid profanity.
